TVR will broadcast Champions League games, after the Romanian Public TV announced it acquired the rights to broadcast covering the next 3 seasons (2012 – 2015) of the competition.
TVR didn’t announce the paid price but it said, in a press release, that the amount is 10 times smaller than for previous contract. Romanian state TV paid for last 3 previous seasons around Euro 35 – 40m, which means the new closed contract is estimated at Euro 3,5 – 4M.
Also, it got the broadcasting rights for World Gymnastics Championship and Eurovision 2013.
Rights for UEFA Champions League, and the ones for Europa League, were bought by RCS&RDS and Romtelecom Dolce.
